Welcome Aboard!

I am assuming that by checking this blog out that you either a) know me and are AWESOME for wanting to support your friend, b) love anything related to country anything or c) a combination of both.  Regardless of the reason – WELCOME!

This is the first time I have attempted a blog like this, so I guess an appropriate place to start would be by introducing myself and talk about what you’ll find here.  Well, I was born in a town on the Canadian Prairies and love anything country – fashion, music, lifestyle, camo, you name it!  I would love to make my living as a writer, so much that not only have I started writing this blog but I am in the process of writing a novel as well.  Alas, it doesn’t pay the bills (yet) so I have a full-time job with a market research company.  I am married to a guy who isn’t as big in to the country lifestyle as I am, so I really needed a way to get my “redneck ya-ya’s” out and this seemed like a good way to do it 😉

What will you find here.  The intention is to write about…well…country stuff!  From celebrity news to rising stars to who is making some awesome boots these days, we will cover it.  What makes me qualified for this? Not much really!  I only come armed with a fashion merchandising degree and an opinion.

So…let’s get started!

CELEBRITY NEWS:

Ok, let’s just get this out-of-the-way.  News is depressing so I really do not want to put too much focus on sad country news.  But the biggest news really has been the Blake/Miranda split up and the Reba/Narvel split up.  Where Blake and Miranda are concerned, none of us will EVER really know what happened.  That is between them and their lawyers.  It was obvious that things weren’t going well (to some of us anyway) and although I never want to wish it on anyone, I hope that they can move on and find some happiness.  As far as Reba and Narvel are concerned, there have only been reports that divorce is on the horizon, but according to some sources that I have read, they have been separated for some time.  All the best to them.

US 99.5 reported today that the duo Thompson Square is expecting after being married for 16 years!  Congrats to them!!  How cute are they in this FB post:

For the Eric Church fans – you may want to head down to Nashville to the Hall of Fame and check out the Eric Church exhibit opening September 18th and running until February 2016. Read about it here:

COUNTRY FASHION:

Sadly we are moving in to fall.  And if you are Canadian sun worshipper like I am, it can be a pretty dismal time.  I would like fall so much more if it wasn’t a precursor to -40c!  I did source some really sweet country trends to take us in to fall from www.countryliving.com.  From the maxi a-line skirt to a modified barn jacket, these adorable trends will keep you toasty as we move toward colder weather:

Country chic isn’t your style?  Cabela’s has some awesome new styles for the fall including this:

Realtree MAX-5/Black/Hot Pink

I seriously NEED one!  Check out www.cabelas.ca for many more new items!

COUNTRY MUSIC:

This weekend is We Fest in Detroit Lakes, MN and yours truly will probably NOT be there (sobs quietly in to her baseball cap).  Cash is a bit tight since I went to Craven this year but it was worth every penny to see Blake Shelton again, since I hadn’t seen him since I went to CMA Fest in 2011.  He is playing this weekend along with Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert (AWWWKWAARD) to name just a few.  Next time, Blake.  Next time 😦

That being said, I also love to experience new singers..  While visiting Nashville, I had the opportunity to meet rising star Jimmy Charles.  He has a great voice, is super friendly and quite the looker 😉

Jimmy grew up in Maryland and is a graduate of Towson University.  He was a contestant on season 9 of “American Idol” (where he received some high praise from Simon – which is no easy feat).  He was also in the top 50 of “Nashville Star”.  He sings with passion – which is always important for me as a listener.  Jimmy has recently become the spokesperson for the Zero Cancer campaign in an effort to raise awareness and money for the fight against prostate cancer, a cause near and dear to him.  His song “Superman” is the official anthem for the cause.

Right now he mainly plays in Nashville, but check out his website if you are travelling, because he may just be where you are: www.jimmycharlesmusic.com  I highly recommend seeking him out because he doesn’t disappoint!

Well, that’s all I’ve got for today! So to see us out – here is Jimmy Charles “Superman”:

I was born in raised in Canada and LOVE all things country! Some may say I'm a redneck - I take that as the compliment I know it was intended to be.
